NSCLC’s LGBT Older Adults in Long Term Care Facilities: Stories from the Field report was the subject of a meeting attended by Executive Director Paul Nathanson and Staff Attorney Gene Coffey with U.S. Administration on Aging and HHS officials as well as representatives from some of the partner groups that helped NSCLC develop the report. Problems identified in the report related to how LGBT older adults are treated or the fears that they have about long term care facilities were discussed. The meeting was called by Assistant Secretary for Aging Kathy Greenlee, a former Kansas Secretary on Aging, long term care ombudsman and legal services attorney. Ideas for dealing with some of the concerns outlined in the report were discussed.
