(7/7/11) CMS has issued a letter to state Medicaid directors entitled “Same Sex Partners and Medicaid Liens, Transfer of Assets, and Estate Recovery.” The letter identifies strategies states may employ to broaden the federal law’s narrow application of protections that extend to certain spouses of Medicaid beneficiaries.
