2007 Resource Limits for the Low Income Subsidy
The 2007 resource limits for the Low Income Subsidy are now available.Individuals who must apply for the Low Income Subsidy (those who are not deemed eligible by virtue of their Medicaid eligibility or SSI status), must meet certain countable income and resource limits in order to qualify.
For 2007, resources must be below $10,210 for an individual and $20,410 for a married couple living together. An additional $1,500 disregard is allowed per person for burial expenses. Applicants that have resources below $6,120 (single) or $9,190 (married couple living together) and countable income below 135% of the federal poverty level will qualify for a higher level of subsidy ($0 monthly premium, $0 deductible, $2/$5 co-payments).
Countable income limits for 2007 will not be known until the new Federal Poverty Level numbers are released in late February or early March. Until then, then 2006 countable income limits (135%, $1,103/$1,485; 150%, $1,225/$1,650) will be applied. Both unearned and earned income deductions are available.
