Edit “Static” Pages and Other Text Content
Change text content like About Us, Consumer sections, and the main pages of Areas of Expertise and Publications.
When you are logged in, you'll see a framing box around internal page content, with a series of tabs on top. The EDIT tab will take you to a screen where you can add and change page content. The Body Text field has WYSIWG functions on the toolbar for simple formatting (bold, italic, underline, bullets, numbering, etc.) You can also use the gray S-like “mobius strip” icon toward the right end of the toolbar to toggle between WYSIWYG mode and HTML mode, which reveals the HTML tags. Changes can be made in either mode. The SAVE button at the bottom of the page will save changes and bring you back to VIEW mode (which you can also always get to via the VIEW tab on top.)
The WYSIWG toolbar includes the capability to set up internal (to another page on the site) and external (to other website) links. To set up a link, highlight the entirety of the text you want to be the hyperlink, then click either the internal link (gray chain links) or the external link (globe) icon. The internal link will display a “link drawer” that will allow you to navigate and point to another page on your site. You may not be that familiar with the folder hierarchy of your site at this point, so it may be tricky “finding” a page. Experiment. When you set up an external link, you simply provide the full URL of the external page you want to link to.
Try editing some pages. The pages in the About Us and Consumer sections are fairly simple, as are the main pages in the Areas of Expertise and Publications section.
Notes:
- You will note that the Title of the page appears automatically on top when the page is VIEWed..
- The Description field for most “static” text pages does not appear, but is used in searches.
- The Related Items and Enable Discussion fields at the bottom of the EDIT screen are not important at this time.
