NSCLC Seeks Executive Director

The National Senior Citizens Law Center, a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., is seeking an Executive Director to take the lead in promoting independence and well-being for low-income older Americans.

The Organization

The National Senior Citizens Law Center (NSCLC) is dedicated to justice for America's low-income older persons, with an emphasis on problems affecting people of color and women and individuals with disabilities. We have advocated for economic and health security for over 35 years. We currently focus on Medicaid, long-term care, Medicare Part D, Social Security, SSI, and access to the courts. In each of these areas, we engage in litigation, policy advocacy, technical assistance, and training for attorneys and other advocates nationwide. NSCLC publishes the NSCLC Washington Weekly, the periodic Social Security/SSI Informational Mailing, the bi-monthly Nursing Home Law Letter, regular Medicare Part D Low Income Advocate Alerts, and a federal rights listserv. The Position

NSCLC seeks an exceptional individual to serve as its new Executive Director, a leader who will spearhead strategic planning, fundraising, and advocacy. The Executive Director oversees the organization's three offices (Washington, D.C., Oakland and Los Angeles, California), inspires its dedicated team of ten attorneys and administrative staff, partners with NSCLC's board of directors, and serves as NSCLC's chief spokesperson to funders and the general public. Flexible scheduling is possible. The position can be located at any of NSCLC's offices, although Washington, D.C. is preferred.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will share our values and our commitment to fundamental issues facing low-income older persons and bring a variety of experiences and attributes to NSCLC, including:

--Demonstration of a collegial leadership style, a passion for justice, and the ability to effectively garner resources, think creatively and plan strategically.

--Experience with private donor and foundation fundraising.

--A genuine commitment to working for poor and underserved populations with a compelling vision for legal services advocacy.

--An exceptional track-record of nurturing, managing and developing a diverse non-profit advocacy program.

--Relationships and/or networks with key public policy leaders, funders, and/or leaders in legal services.

--Knowledge and experience in one or more of NSCLC's advocacy areas; helpful, but not required.

Salary & Relocation

Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
